I am… a licensed SE in California, the current President of SEAONC, a proud mom of 2 energetic daughters, and an entrepreneur.
I chose Civil Engineering because… I wanted to use my talents to help society and to create things big and tangible enough for my grandmother to understand.
I like my job because… I help keep people safe from earthquakes.
My typical day at work involves… by now, my job is mostly communication: one-on-one and group meetings, written correspondence and reports, presentations, for the purpose of helping the team get work done and helping others understand the value of our work.
I want others to know… that this year, for the first time in history, women hold four of the five Presidencies within the Structural Engineers Association of California!
This is my story… Structural engineering will always be my first career and the one I can return to at any time. Having a technical expertise about the built environment made it easy for me to branch out into technology development and the financial / insurance industry.
